Annual Meetings & Events
The Washington Association of Landscape Professionals offers many event opportunities to our members and guests. Our events range from Chapter Meetings to Conferences, and everything in between. Below are an overview of our annual events.
Northwest Landscape Industry Conference
The Northwest Landscape Industry Conference is an annual event, typically held in January. This Conference is WALP’s premiere event where Landscape Industry professionals come for growth and learning opportunities from an exceptional line-up of presenters representing the Industry.
The Conference offers a myriad of activities designed to connect great people with great ideas. Whether you are joining your association peers to share your leadership, energy, and enthusiasm while exploring current trends and learning first-hand what landscape professionals throughout Washington State are doing to advance their businesses, or are an industry partner attending offering information on products and services vital to the Industry, the Northwest Green Industry Conference provides exceptional experiences and essential tools that make individuals and their organizations more successful.
WALP Field Day
Field day is a one-day annual event, typically held in July. This special “hands-on” event provides landscaping professionals the opportunity to not only see products in person like at a regular trade show but to actually operate many of the items being displayed. By attending you will also be given the opportunity to:
- “Try before they buy”
- Learn about new products you might have
- Network with you and other suppliers
- Compare products/equipment side-by-side
And although Field Day is a chance to use and test out many different pieces of equipment, it’s much more than that! Other Field Day activities you won’t want to miss include:
- Industry demonstrations
- Education sessions
- Opportunity to win drawings
WALP Golf Tournament
The Golf Tournament is a one-day annual event, typically held in Late July/early August. Summer days are filled with social events, but WALP’s Golf Tournament is one that must not be missed! Members and their guests tee off on an area golf course and compete for bragging rights amongst their colleagues and peers. A post-tournament reception offers ample opportunity for visiting, networking, and awards.
Landscape Industry Certified Professional Certification Program
The Landscape Industry Certified exam is a two-day annual event, typically held in September. With so many industries struggling to find qualified individuals, you can help improve your bottom-line by investing in employees who are trained and excel in their respective positions. One way of doing this is to have your employees participate in WALP’s professional designation programs: the Landscape Industry Certified Manager and the Landscape Industry Certified Technician.
ecoPRO Sustainable Landscape Professional Certification Program
The ecoPRO Sustainable Landscape Professional Certification Program is a twice a year event, typically held in March and November. This is the first program to provide sustainable land care education and certification to landscape professionals across Washington State. Program goals include:
- Providing credentials to qualified professionals
- Offering consumers a means to judge qualifications
- Being the State’s industry standard for sustainable land care
- Making a positive impact on water quality and public health
Landscape Awards Bus Tour
The Landscape Awards Bus Tour is a one-day annual event, typically held in June. This event tours our previous years Landscape Award winning projects. Enjoy a day observing and learning what went into each project with our hand selected tour guide each year. Our members work hard on each of their entries. Along with our annual tour, we recognize our winners at our annual Conference.
Legislative Day is a one-day annual event, typically held in February. Be heard in Olympia! Join your trade association in one of the most important days of the year for Landscaping Professionals!
- Find out how critical legislation coming up in the 2017 Legislative Session could affect landscaping in Washington and your business
- Learn how to become an effective citizen lobbyist
- Visit with your state representatives and let them know what you think about the issues they will be facing this year
- Help demonstrate the unity and strength of the “Landscape Industry”
During the course of the year, WALP’s Local Chapters conduct Chapter Meetings that emphasizes educational speakers and topics – further helping to advance the professionalism of individuals in the Green Industry.
