With so many industries struggling to find qualified individuals, you can help improve your bottom-line by investing in employees who are trained and excel in their respective positions. One way of doing this is to have your employees participate in WALP’s professional designation programs – the Landscape Industry Certified Professional and the Landscape Industry Certified Technician.

September 17th & 18th Certification Field Test Registration Form

Landscape Industry Certifed Professional
The CLP Exam is a 4-hour multiple choice format test covering business management topics.

Who should take the CLP exam?
Interior and exterior landscape company owners and managers who want to establish themselves (and their company) as a leader in the industry.

Each September, WALP offers the Certified Landscape Professional test. For information on the next CLP test being offered by WALP, contact the WALP Office or call (800) 833-2186.

The CLP certification exam is also available as a computer-based exam in a network of testing centers nationwide.

Landscape Industry Certified Technician
This exam is a hands-on field test. Candidates choose to test in Installation, Maintenance, or Irrigation.

Who should take this exam?
Any exterior technician who wants to establish credentials by meeting international standards for safe and effective operation of machinery and demonstrating a thorough understanding of all facets of the position. For the best chance of success, it is recommended that candidates have:

  • 4,000 hours of work in the landscape industry, or
  • 2,000 hours in the landscape industry, plus the completion of a 2 or 4 year curriculum in a landscape major, or
  • 1,000 hours in the landscape industry, plus the completion of a 2 or 4 year curriculum in a landscape major that included completing an internship in the field.
